![]() Hell, at one point in the show we have Eva outright being the voice of myself as a viewer and telling Yugo they need to cut the shit and focus on the mission because they are getting way too distracted doing good deeds everywhere, the show probably not being as self aware as I'm giving it credit, only to immediately return to throwaway episodes. The show was easily 70% fat and 30% meat when you cut it down. The issue is clear: their main plot for the season didn't have much meat to it how they had written it, so they had to sprinkle very VERY small portions of advancing the plot in all of these episodes. IntroducingĮva's sister? Definitely needed, but could have been cut down exponentially. Information you largely already got from the opening arc, but still that other small arc dealing with them? It had a purpose in the long run. ![]() You are given more information on the Shushus. But the entirety of the show going over the 20s be almost 97% this? Ugh. A comedic break here and there? Sure, go nuts. spend the rest of the show having happy go lucky adventures? This bothers me. Yes this is exactly what episodic television does, but if you're going to have small arcs dealing with the plot, only to then introduce big players give a TON of exposition and background on Yugo's people, give them a mission and then. We have Yugo and crew finding a town or person, aiding them for a whole episode, and then leaving to never be seen again. As soon as the crew leaves for their adventure it might as well be filler except that they happen to meet a big side character on their way there. Rescuing Percedal and fighting the horrible rogue to returning and then leaving for their mission. How is it that you start the show so positively with Evangelyne's amazing arc of I can see the appeal from a young child's point of view to have our cast go through wacky adventures that have little to do with the plot with the excuse that they are on their way to their destination. Now that I've gotten the visuals praise out of the way, let's go over how disappointed I was with the second season's direction and plot and maybe where I will differ from its target audience of kids and young teens. I cannot stress enough just how awe-struck I was with the whole assault on the island sequence, a million lasers flying everywhere, ground troop mechas fighting monsters, and of course our titular heroes each battling their own respective enemy. The battles were much flashier in this season (when there were any, but I'll get to that in a bit) that showcase that Studio Ankama is leading the charge on French animation.
